PLEASE DON’T FORGET

ONCE AGAIN WE HAVE AGREED TO ASSIST with Community Ministries Book Bag Project.  This year we have been asked to provide 22 back packs for fourth grade students.   Each back pack should contain (1) 2 inch three-ring binder, 3 packages of wide ruled notebook paper, and 6 #2 pencils.  Please do not put the supplies inside the back pack, but attach them to the outside in a bag.  You do not need to purchase the entire range of supplies.  You may bring a back pack or some of the supplies or simply put a check in the plate designated for the project.    We must have all of the back packs and supplies at the Church not later than August 8 so that they can be distributed to the children before school starts. We will be grateful for your support.

PARKING METERS HAVE BEEN INSTALLED in front of Trinity House and the Church.   It is hoped that the meters will result in visitors to the Church and the Town being able to park there instead of university students on their way to class.  The meters are 90 minute meters and will be enforced.  The hours of enforcement are 8:00 AM until 6:00 PM Monday through Friday.  Please remember that we do have parking in the back of the Church and Fellowship Hall.  We will open the Fellowship Hall doors by 9:00 AM each day.  That will enable you to park in our parking lot and enter the Office through the Fellowship Hall.  Also, we have a bowl of quarters in the front hall of Trinity House on the table for your use if you need them.

WE ARE MOST GRATEFUL TO ALL OF YOU WHO helped in any way with Vacation Bible School this past week.  A special thanks goes to Kristin Vanderwijst who represents our Church (and has for many years) regarding the planning of VBS.  It is a wonderful gift to the children of our community by all of the volunteers from many churches who work to prepare for and operate it.

SUMMER CHURCH SCHOOL is a relatively informal program designed for those children too old for the Nursery and too young to remain in Church.  A sign up sheet to help is on the table in the Fellowship Hall.  We need someone to sign up for Sundays in August. Curriculum and the finest children you will ever find are provided.   If you have an idea for a morning, please feel free to try it out with the children.  The curriculum is provided for reference.

TRINITY BOOK CLUB has just begun a new book: Saint Paul, written by Michael Grant. A few copies are still available through the Office at a cost of $12.00 each.  The book sets Paul’s theology in the context of his world in such a way that it seeks to open the Epistles to new insights. The meetings are each Monday beginning at 9:30 AM in Trinity House.   The next session will be held on Monday, July 26.  Come and join the conversation.

OUR PROGRAM SELLING Martin’s and Food Lion Gift Cards continues to do well.  We have made $12,350.  Thanks to all who have supported the program - Trinity was able to

pre-buy our propane gas for the coming year.  We are considering expanding our gift card program to include Sheetz and Weiss cards.  If you would be interested in purchasing one or the other or both on a regular basis, please let Denise Campolieto know.  If you have not tried the cards yet, please consider doing so. What a wonderful way to give to Trinity without it costing you anything!

THE MEMBERS OF THE ALTAR GUILD take the flowers from the Altar on Sunday morning to those who are sick at home or are in Nursing Homes as part of their ministry at Trinity Church.  The Altar Flowers fit best into one pound coffee cans which they cover and use as vases.  If you have any cans, please put them outside the Sacristy door.

THE COFFEE HOUR SIGN UP SHEET is on the table in the Fellowship Hall for your use.  We are so grateful to have the opportunity to visit over a snack and some coffee after the 10:00 AM service and we are grateful to all of you who help.  It would be great if we could have the summer Sundays filled in.  More then one family unit is welcome to “join forces”.  We know that you meant to sign up on Sunday and forgot.  Please fill in the sheet when you can.

IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A WAY TO HELP here at Trinity, we have several small tasks that could use a bit of your time and energy.  There is everything from outdoor painting, weeding, trimming to some indoor clean up projects.   We’ll be happy to show you the list to see if something fits.  The Presiding Bishop will be here on October 3 as she tours the Diocese of West Virginia.  We are anxious to shine for the event!

THE SYMPATHY OF THE CONGREGATION is extended to the family of John

VanTol.  We will let you know as soon as we do the date of the Memorial Service to be held here at Trinity.  “May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed rest in peace and light perpetual shine upon them.”

PLEASE REMEMBER that Trinity’s expenses do not stop in the summer time.  Please keep your pledge up to date!

GOOD SHEPHERD CAREGIVERS recently celebrated 20 years of providing free, nonmedical caregiving to older or disabled residents of Jefferson County.   These services are performed by volunteers for all ages throughout our community.  The volunteers drive people to medical appointments, take them grocery shopping, do chores around the house and yard, help at the Office and more. The next volunteer training will be Tuesday, August 17 from 2 to 4 PM at the main office, 101 South Princess Street, Shepherdstown.  For more information, please call Angie Hill at 304-876-3325 or email her at ahill@gsivc.org.

WE DELIVERED 453 POUNDS OF FOOD to Community Ministries Food Pantry this week.  Thank you to everyone who has given either money or food.  They were very appreciative.  Their need continues to grow.
