CHURCH PROGRAMS
 

The clergy and Vestry have developed some ideas and goals to help guide our life and ministry.  Listed below are opportunities to participate in the life of Trinity Church.  Click an item to see a brief description.  If you would like to participate or need more information please contact the church office (304-876-6990).

Woman's Healing Service

The Women's Healing Service, held on the 2nd Tuesday of each month beginning at 7 p.m. in the church fellowship hall, offers prayers, readings, and music for the solace and healing of body, mind and soul-for self or on behalf of another.  The laying on of hands for healing and anointing with oil is followed by Holy Eucharist.  All are welcomed.

Christian Education

Trinity offers Sunday School programs for the following age groups
        Preschool - ages 4 to kindergarten
        Primary - grades 1-3
        Intermediate - grades 4-6
        Rite 13 - Junior high
        Journey to Adulthood (J2A) - Senior high

These programs meet during the 10:00 AM service and finish in time for the  children to join the service for Eucharist.  A nursery is available for children under the age of 4 during the 10:00 AM service.

There is also an adult study group that meets each Sunday at approximately 9:00 AM.  The group discusses the lectionary readings for the day and is led by the clergy.

Outreach

The Outreach Group oversees the distribution of Outreach and Thrift Shop money.  The group will be looking at the possibility of mission trips, a senior center for Shepherdstown, more "hands on" community outreach.

Building and Grounds

In addition to normal maintenance and grounds activities the Building and Grounds committee is working on  a repair and maintenance list, the installation of a new columbarium, and guidelines for the use of Fellowship Hall.

Treasure Kids

Treasure Kids is a weekly Christian Education program for children ages 2-5.  Children are taught developmentally appropriate skills involving pre-reading, math, science, and social studies along with basic Bible stories and principles. The school meets 4 days a week as follows:

    Monday:  Age 2 - 10 AM to 12 Noon
    Tuesday - Thursday: Age 3 to 5 - 9AM to 12Noon

Trinity Thrift Shop

The Trinity Thrift Shop, located on Church Street next to the Chapel, is open Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.  The Thrift Shop sell mostly recycled clothing, but from time to time also offers small appliances, knick-knacks, etc.  It is operated totally by volunteers who sort, price, and sell items donated by members of Trinity and the community.  All proceeds from sales are given back to the community in the form of donations to various community organizations.  Trinity Church does not receive any income from the Thrift Shop.  Volunteers to this worthwhile activity are always appreciated.  Please contact the church office if you would like to volunteer.

Trinity Book Club

The Trinity Book Club, led by The Rev. Dr. GT Schramm meets 9:30 AM each Monday morning in the parlor of Trinity House (on German Street).  A book of topical interest is chosen for review and discussion.  Lively discussion always is the order of the day.  All are welcome.  The chosen book is made available for purchase at cost.

Parish Family

The Parish Family Committee will be looking at new and creative ways to utilize the Fellowship Hall and to bring our parish family together for special events.  In addition they develop and implement ways to welcome and to make feel at home new comers to our parish family

Spiritual Life

The Spiritual Life Committee work to develop and implement various programs throughout the year such as the Lenten Series and the Book Club.  In addition they will look at the possibility of a third service (the need, when and what type).

Trinity Wellness Ministry

Trinity Wellness Ministry: Integrating mind, body and soul seeks to educate and provide the community with hands on experiences which lead to the integration of mind, body and soul.  Winter offerings will include a potluck dinner, centering prayer and mediation groups, Q & A forums on women's health care topics, and more. We are looking for parishioners who would like to share their gifts with the parish.  If you are interested in being a part of this group please contact the church office.

The Retired Men's Group

The Retired Men's Group meets at 8:00 AM for breakfast at the Bavarian Inn the second and fourth Thursday of each month.  It is a time for fellowship, discussion and of course breakfast (Dutch treat).  It is open to all retired men.  Contact Tom Miller if you would like to attend (this is to let the Bavarian Inn know about how many to prepare for).

 Food and Discretionary Sunday

The 3rd Sunday of each month is Food and Discretionary Sunday.  All are encouraged to bring non-perishable food for distribution to the food pantry.  On this Sunday the open plate offering goes into the priest's discretionary fund for use to help those in critical need as necessary.

1st Sunday Breakfast

The first Sunday of each month breakfast is served in the Fellowship Hall beginning at 9:00 AM after the 8:00 AM Eucharist.  This provides an opportunity for the parishioners to get to know each other better and to further develop a sense of fellowship and community.

The breakfast is prepared by volunteers.  A nominal donation is requested to help defray food costs.  Volunteer cooks, servers, and cleanup persons are always welcome.
